It looks like Ike is going to hit Texas in a big way. Keep everyone in your prayers. I'll be a host for the next few days to some hurricane refugees; my parents, and brother's family. My family lives about 50 miles from Galveston and that around where it's going to hit. I'll get some rain and wind but nothing serious on Saturday night/Sunday morning. I live central. David (fitcop) will probably be feeling the effects from this too because he lives on the Texas/Louisiana border. So pray that their is minimal damage, no casualties, and that God's will be done. Thanks...I'll keep you guys up to date.

Tiffeh's havin' a hurricane party! w00000t!

In all seriousness, though, my sister and her hubs and his family live in Houston. They're staying put, as they haven't been told to evacuate (the rule is this: If you haven't been told to evacuate, then stay put so that you don't cause more issues and clog up the road for the people who ARE evacuating!). Please keep them in your prayers!

I am preparing for the impact. I am on the eastern quadrant (the bad side) and they are telling us to get ready for 20 ft. storm surge. I have to report to work again at 4pm and ride out the storm in a local hospital. At that time, we will start feeling the more severe winds. I was able to get my family out of here in time and get everything at my house in order. All I can do now is bare down and hope for the best. I will try and keep everyone updated on what happens.

I pray in Jesus name, that he will calm his creation and keep his people safe during this time of danger and worrying.... May God weaken this storm and keep the flooding to a minimum...

I think everything turned out cool with my family. My parents had a few trees go down but nothing was destroyed thank God. They are still without electricity though. They may leave from my house tomorrow to go back home. We've just been chilln' and hanging. This has given me time to bond with my nephew more. He's 16 months old and extremely mobile! I'll be glad when things are back to normal. Thank you for all of your prayers. There are still tons of people to pray for that weren't as fortunate though so do continue to do so. Thanks...

Hello everyone....I made it through the storm with little damage to my house. The county I live in is trashed. The City of Orange where I work for was covered with five feet of water. We have been going door to door searching for victims. I have some pictures that I will post ASAP. I think our death toll is at six. I have never seen such disaster in person. Several coffins were floating on top of the water near where a cemetary was. I already have power and the wind damage was not as severe as the water damage. I appreciate everyones prayers very much. It will be a long road ahead but the people here are strong.

David we are still praying for you guys. My family finally went back home. My parents just got power yesterday but my brother's house is still without. He lives in Pearland. They still have a curfew from 6pm-5am which is nuts!

Here are a few pictures of what has been going on around here. Everything is still crazy but its starting to get better. The water level in town was estimated at 10 feet after the surge. The cemetary in the picture is the oldest african american cemetary in Texas (1860s-present). There were over one hundred caskets above ground after the storm.

We still have a curfew around here too, but we dont enforce it for those who are trying to help out or trying to get food. Most of our problem (crime areas) got hit pretty hard and there are few that have returned home. I was very fortunate this time, but many other officers werent. There were about fourty officers and dispatchers that completely lost everything. Most lived in Bridge City, and most had six to eight feet of water inside their homes. I give them all the upmost respect because even though they lost everything, they still worked continuously without stopping to worry about their own problems or where they were going to live.
