holy crap!!! it didn't even look like he had a problem with it!

when you can lift that much, how do you even work out your chest? lol...does he do flies of 300lbs?

It takes the full body to pull that off...and genetics of course.

This is what makes a powerlifting bench press differ from a regular bench press. :D Alot of tricep, alot of lat, not as much chest as you think. Alot of pushing through your feet and concentrating on staying in "the groove". Lifting in gear is sooooooo much different.

Damn this kid is insane though! 1,050!!

was that kenelly? As of right now big ryan has the WR..and is looking at hitting 1100 or better this year. And unlike the rest of the 1klb benchers out there..ryan handles it with NO problems.

That looked way too easy. I mean, I wish I could make lifting half that weight look that easy.

curious, what does this man lift for a single raw?

If I remember correctly, it's in the low 700s. I'll see if I can verify that.

I can't find where I've read that, but I've seen video of him benching 400 x 20.

Here's a little tidbit on him:

a suit adds over 300lbs to these guys?

how much does it add to the average lifter putting up 405 raw?

For me, it was about 75 pounds. This was several years ago. The shirts have evolved quite a bit since then. It depends on your groove and your bench style as well. A bodybuilding bench press and a powerlifting bench press are two different animals.

That's so bad ass. There are few power lifters at the gym I goto that do very well in benching. One of them just set a PA record but I'm not sure if it was raw or not.
They usually train on saturday mornings and they make it almost impossible to lift because every 45 plate in the place is taken up.

It also depends on the thickness and the material of the bench shirt too. :D I know for a fact Gene Rychlak uses a triple ply Phenom. :D The better you know how to work the shirt, the more it will add. I'm getting a double Phenom soon.....this should be a fun animal to conquer, first time EVER in a double!
